Design Assistant | Model Home Interior Design
Hybrid Working Style: 2 days in office/3 days remotely.

The primary focus of the Design Assistant is to provide administrative and design assistance to the design team in order to gain experience in the interior design industry, including processes, procedures, trends, and interior design fundamentals. This Design Assistant role is an exciting learning and growth opportunity to work alongside talented, award-winning designers.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Librarian with the filing of fabric swatches and material samples.
- Assist Designers with ordering product and material samples for project purposes.
- Assist with FF&E writeup process.
- Assist with FF&E reselections during the project ordering process.
- Attend installations as needed to provide support.
- Attend kickoff meetings, obtaining all necessary information to complete the project according to the client directive and company standards.
- Collaborate with the Creative Director team and Senior Designers, leveraging their feedback and guidance through the design process to ensure the best product is delivered and installed.
- Assist in completing designs of model homes as well as secondary spaces model homes as assigned by the leadership team and Senior Designers according to client directive and outlined parameters indicated by the leadership team.
- Attend and present project presentations with clients as requested or directed.
- Assist in interior selections for model home projects including but not limited to flooring, paint, lighting, countertops, cabinets, hardware, appliances, tile, and any other decorative materials per the project scope and requirements.
- Assist in all project drafting as required per company policy and as needed in collaboration with our drafting department to complete the finish schedule documents, providing the client with necessary and accurate information for construction and development.
- Assist in all assigned projects from kickoff to completion, meeting deadlines as assigned and communicating internally and externally in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with administrative project needs for the team and Senior Designers by assembling fabric trays, leave-behinds, pulling stock, and completing various other tasks as needed.
- Accurately record timesheet and expense report information as required by company policy.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in interior design from an accredited university
- 1-3 years of experience in design-related industry, preferably interior design with a focus on model home merchandising
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite, including PowerPoint
- Experience with understanding of architectural details and constructability
- Ability to communicate designs verbally and written plus in presentations
- Ability to travel to job sites
