This is an exciting opportunity for an interior design leader in the hospitality sector to join a growing and talented team. For this role, the company is growing its interior design team focused on full-service and lifestyle hotels. It needs an experienced, driven, relationship-oriented professional to lead the team in downtown Chicago. The Studio Director will be responsible for the design quality created in the studio along with the operational aspects of leading a design studio. A charismatic leader who provides inspiration and motivation to clients, projects, and teams will succeed in this role.
As the Director of the Chicago–Downtown team, you will work with the Chief Designer Officer (CDO) on creating the brand impression and experience in the market. As the studio's leader, you will work closely with the project teams, guiding them through all aspects and project phases. The director will also mentor each team member to help them develop professionally and reach their goals.
The role calls for an individual with a well-rounded skill set understanding custom FF+E and ID drawing sets. Based on years of hospitality experience, you understand the nuances of a custom design project and can guide clients and brands through all design phases. The role requires a keen sense of design, the design business, a passion for hospitality design, and a commitment to deliver a great design experience for clients.
This is a leadership role internally and externally. The Director would be representing the firm in various industry events, conferences, client meetings, and on project sites. The desire and ability to travel around the country to represent the firm is essential. The Studio Director role requires an entrepreneurial spirit and is for someone who wants to be part of creating something unique and leading a team to success.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- 15 years with 7+ years in full-service custom hospitality
- NCIDQ Certification is a plus
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or REVIT; visualization programs (Blender or SketchUp), InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft (Word/Excel), FF&E Specification Writing
- Experience guiding and leading a team
- Excellent communication skills
